HKPR Respite Team

Mission Statement

We believe that caring and supportive relationships are at the heart of strong and dynamic communities. Families having a member with an intellectual and perhaps a physical disability may, from time to time, need support from the community in order to nurture and sustain these relationships, which leads to an enhanced quality of life for all involved.

By responding to these needs, the community gains an opportunity to grow in caring and strength. Respite programs in HKPR (Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough, and Northumberland) provide intervals of support and rest for families who are responsible for the continuous care of a family member who has an intellectual disability. Quality care is arranged on a periodic basis with a host family or individual from the community in conjunction with other models of service as requested.
